What the analysis found
Positive evidence 1
Things this app does right, published at the same strengths as the catch list.
One source only — shown, not confirmed 3
A single kind of evidence. We publish these because withholding them would be the bigger distortion, and we do not treat any of them as a finding we stand behind.
What reviewers said
Verbatim excerpts from public store reviews, shown as corroborating user reports. They are not Appworthy audit evidence, and a quotation is not proof of the finding it sits under.
Aggressive ad load
Incredibly disappointed with this app. Long time user (since 2016!!) And it's just gone majorly downhill the last few years. I used to be able to backup to Google drive!! Now they have an expensive subscription to backup AND you can't…
I loved this app for many years. I was a huge fan when I first found it, told everyone about it, it truly brought me so much joy and I felt like it enhanced my life. Over the years it's super saddening to see features being stripped away…
Everything is now behind a pay wall. Ads after every single upload? Gone too far now. Used to be a great app. 7 years of daily uploads comes to an end.
Paywall blocks the basics
Really upsetting to see the move to a subscription based model where most of the features are hidden behind a paywall. I used to use this app all the time, and fondly remember being able to make multiple projects at once - one for every…
I used 1SE for 3 years and previously loved it, but they have slowly taken away basically every unique feature the app has to offer, and put it behind a paywall that only paying subscribers can access. You can no longer back up projects…
I've used 1SE for 6 years and cherish my mashes. I've convinced dozens of others to join and many are still daily users like me. Sadly, the quality has seriously dropped recently so my rating must drop as well. Key features are locked…
Upgrade prompts use guilt-trip wording
I don't want premium! I can't go through ANY screens in this app without a pop up add for premium. I'd have no issue if it was suggested every once in a while, but I get it: 1) When I open the app 2) When I made an account 3) When I try…
I used this app every single day for 4 years and absolutely loved it. However, now, with the new updates I can't stand using the app. It constantly asks you to upgrade to the premium account for money, and it spams you with Ads now. The…
good but the popups to buy the premuim membership are annoying and obnoxious
What this app sells
How the automated analysis works
This assessment is produced automatically. Three independent signals are read — user reviews, the store listing and the store privacy disclosure — and each candidate finding is filed under the sources that support it.
No charge stands on one kind of evidence — with one published exception. A finding is either a measured fact that anyone can reproduce (an ad SDK is in the package; every subscription bills weekly; the privacy label omits a tracker we can see), or it is an interpretation — and an interpretation needs independent sources to agree before it reaches the catch list. The exception is a harm only users can see: a charge may publish from reviews alone, as “Reported by N users”, once enough reviewers raise it to clear that charge’s own published bar. That agreement rule is what replaced the human reviewer, not a model’s confidence.
There is no overall score, on purpose. A 0–99 number was published here until 2026-09-15. It was withdrawn because it discriminated too weakly to be the instrument — 44.7% of every pair of apps tied — and because a single number is a verdict where a count is an observation. What publishes instead is a row of measurements, each of which says what was counted and, where we could not look, says that instead.
Findings under One source only are real reports we do not stand behind as findings. They are shown because withholding them entirely would hide a genuine complaint, and labelled because publishing them as charges would be an accusation off a single source.
Several measurements above say “Not assessed” because no artefact we hold can answer them. A human review is what resolves those — and it can remove a favourable band as easily as add one.
