We analyzed this app across 3 independent signals and corroborated nothing unfair. That is a signal, not an audit.
This analysis describes version 7.142.0 of the app, analyzed 2026-10-06 . The app may have changed since.
The store currently lists version 7.142.0, updated 2026-09-28.
What the analysis found
One source only — shown, not confirmed 9
A single kind of evidence. We publish these because withholding them would be the bigger distortion, and we do not treat any of them as a finding we stand behind.
What reviewers said
Verbatim excerpts from public store reviews, shown as corroborating user reports. They are not Appworthy audit evidence, and a quotation is not proof of the finding it sits under.

This game is for kids — This game like teaches you stuff and you need to do stuff to get energy like if you get the infinite one like you need to pay when the month ends, but you don’t need to pay for when the month when you start the…
Pay to progress
Dou is fun — Do is fun but too pay to win but it teaches languages the best
Reports of unexpected charges
They Stole My Money — The app kept pestering me to try their free trial for 7 days. Throughout the week they said they will let me know two days before the trial ends. They never let me know then went into my Apple Account and took out…
Accidental double download — This app was downloaded twice and I was charged twice for the same app. The company won’t reimburse the charge for $119.99. Be aware of how expensive this app is.
WORST APP EVER — Starting off, it charged me $240 for some stupid max plan I didn’t get and it wouldn’t refund us then I accidentally made my account private and it won’t let me change it back so it removes all your leaderboard settings…
Aggressive ad load
Decent but too many ads — The longer you use it, the more ads it makes you watch.
Duolingo review — Duolingo is super easy to use. It is clear and very kid-friendly. Unlike some other apps, it doesn’t have a lot of ads. Although I don’t have the subscription to super, I still use it a lot. I have seen so much growth in…
Best way to learn any language — It’s really good cause it guide you through hard challenges and I may give you like a lot of advertisements to get the super Duolingo but otherwise the game is great
Paywall blocks the basics
Greed has gotten worse. — What a downhill slope….completely locking learning for people behind a paywall is so sad coming from a company that claims in many words that they encourage learning and the connection of people across cultures…
Trial converts to a charge
Where is my week free — Liars! Where is my free week this is misleading! I agreed to pay from a be week after the free trial ended but you took the money anyway! That’s stealing and misleading!
Dishonest — I was informed at the start of my free trial that I would be notified two days before my trial ends. I never got the notification or email and was promptly charged $122. As a broke college student that’s not just money I can…
Progress pauses until you wait or pay
Energy — I love the app I just started a few days ago. I just don’t like the new energy. I miss the hearts because how does it expect me to get a streak when I cant even complete the lesson because I run out of energy. Even if I get it…
Not that good — The app is good and everything but I have a 1000 day streak and I haven’t learned anything new, plus the energy is so annoying and runs out super fast and oh god everything in the shop is super expensive and they barely…
Unsubscribed — I got a new phone and had to get the latest update. Now I don’t get to keep going until my hearts run out but there seems to be a time limit now and I get pressured to subscribe or lose my progress. I’m disappointed with…
How the automated analysis works
This assessment is produced automatically. Three independent signals are read — user reviews, the store listing and the store privacy disclosure — and each candidate finding is filed under the sources that support it.
No charge stands on one kind of evidence — with one published exception. A finding is either a measured fact that anyone can reproduce (an ad SDK is in the package; every subscription bills weekly; the privacy label omits a tracker we can see), or it is an interpretation — and an interpretation needs independent sources to agree before it reaches the catch list. The exception is a harm only users can see: a charge may publish from reviews alone, as “Reported by N users”, once enough reviewers raise it to clear that charge’s own published bar. That agreement rule is what replaced the human reviewer, not a model’s confidence.
There is no overall score, on purpose. A 0–99 number was published here until 2026-09-15. It was withdrawn because it discriminated too weakly to be the instrument — 44.7% of every pair of apps tied — and because a single number is a verdict where a count is an observation. What publishes instead is a row of measurements, each of which says what was counted and, where we could not look, says that instead.
Findings under One source only are real reports we do not stand behind as findings. They are shown because withholding them entirely would hide a genuine complaint, and labelled because publishing them as charges would be an accusation off a single source.
Several measurements above say “Not assessed” because no artefact we hold can answer them. A human review is what resolves those — and it can remove a favourable band as easily as add one.
Hands-on inspections are not yet open.
