What the analysis found

Each finding shows what agreed and how strongly. Automated analysis

One source only — shown, not confirmed 4

A single kind of evidence. We publish these because withholding them would be the bigger distortion, and we do not treat any of them as a finding we stand behind.

Reported by users: Hard to cancel
One source onlyShown, not confirmed — the only source is user reviews.view evidence
Cancelling the subscription is blocked, hidden, multi-step, or simply does not take effect.
What we saw: Hard to cancel: raised by 9 distinct reviewers (1.8% of 507 reviews scanned)
Reported by users: Reports that the ads misrepresent the app
One source onlyShown, not confirmed — the only source is user reviews.view evidence
Reviewers repeatedly report that the app is not what its advertising showed. We never see the ad creative itself, so nothing we collect can corroborate or refute this — it is published as an attributed user report: what reviewers say, and how many of them said it.
What we saw: Misleading advertising: raised by 6 distinct reviewers (1.2% of 507 reviews scanned)
Reported by users: Paywall blocks the basics
One source onlyShown, not confirmed — the only source is user reviews.view evidence
The core of the app — not extras — sits behind payment, or previously-free function moved behind a paywall.
What we saw: Paywall blocks the basics: raised by 6 distinct reviewers (1.2% of 507 reviews scanned)
Reported by users: Price keeps rising
One source onlyShown, not confirmed — the only source is user reviews.view evidence
The price of the paid tier has been raised on existing users.
What we saw: Price keeps rising: raised by 14 distinct reviewers (2.8% of 507 reviews scanned)

Verbatim excerpts from public store reviews, shown as corroborating user reports. They are not Appworthy audit evidence, and a quotation is not proof of the finding it sits under.

Hard to cancel

Used to love it — I used to absolutely love this app and unfortunately I’ve already dumped so much money into this service and have so many books that I need to finish that I can’t cancel yet. But, I am so beyond tired of it losing my…

Unending Glitches - Hard to Cancel — I am endlessly frustrated by my Audiobook restarting to the beginning 2-6 times per book. I also find it annoying that even though I have paid for & redeemed my credits to buy all the books in a…

Can’t cancel subscription — Got a free week to try it out. Don’t want it. Searching for half an hour, can’t find a way to cancel. What a SCAM.

Reports that the ads misrepresent the app

Misleading adds — So I have been a long time user of both audible and Scribd and now it’s evolved product Everand from Its very beginning as I had been saving and listening to audiobooks on Scribd for many years already. Eventually as…

Deceptive — I was under the impression I would still have access to my books I've paid for even after my subscription ends. That is not true. I went to read my book and the system said I needed an active subscription to read it. That is…

Lost a loyal customer -beware — I was a scribd customer. When they changed, I wanted to stay even though you got WAY less bang for your buck with Everand. I couldn’t upgrade and emails and called customer service multiple times. Finally…

Paywall blocks the basics

If you have Legacy access, keep it!! — Everywhere, Everand claims your catalog will grow if you switch to Standard/Premium. It’s a lie. Books I had free access to yesterday under Legacy are now locked behind a paywall today after…

Used to be great — I used Everand/Scribd a few years ago and I LOVED the unlimited titles and huge selection. Now everything is locked, I started a new trial and the one book I unlocked is capped at 5 minutes. For just a little bit more…

DON’T SWITCH FROM THE LEGACY PLAN — I switched to the new standard plan with 1 unlock because I didn’t realize how big of a change I was committing to. Now all of my saved titles I was going to read are behind a paywall. I’m canceling my…

Price keeps rising

Extremely disappointed — They keep raising the price every coupof months and now they put a cap on the Audiobooks that I can listen to three per month at $16 a month plus tax. I’m sorry that an excusable why when I wanna use this and I…

Sketchy Audio — I have two complaints, with the second being a direct result of the first. 1 - The main issue here is that I’ve had multiple books’ audio cut out while the player shows it is still playing. The only way to get the audio to…

200% not worth it. — I used to recommend this subscription to everyone, spent so many hours with the app. Price increases happen, I never got upset about it because the content was still worth it. Unfortunately the new unlock system has…

How the automated analysis works

Automated, corroborated, and never human-reviewed without a person.

This assessment is produced automatically. Three independent signals are read — user reviews, the store listing and the store privacy disclosure — and each candidate finding is filed under the sources that support it.

No charge stands on one kind of evidence — with one published exception. A finding is either a measured fact that anyone can reproduce (an ad SDK is in the package; every subscription bills weekly; the privacy label omits a tracker we can see), or it is an interpretation — and an interpretation needs independent sources to agree before it reaches the catch list. The exception is a harm only users can see: a charge may publish from reviews alone, as “Reported by N users”, once enough reviewers raise it to clear that charge’s own published bar. That agreement rule is what replaced the human reviewer, not a model’s confidence.

There is no overall score, on purpose. A 0–99 number was published here until 2026-09-15. It was withdrawn because it discriminated too weakly to be the instrument — 44.7% of every pair of apps tied — and because a single number is a verdict where a count is an observation. What publishes instead is a row of measurements, each of which says what was counted and, where we could not look, says that instead.

Findings under One source only are real reports we do not stand behind as findings. They are shown because withholding them entirely would hide a genuine complaint, and labelled because publishing them as charges would be an accusation off a single source.

 Not yet human-reviewed

Several measurements above say “Not assessed” because no artefact we hold can answer them. A human review is what resolves those — and it can remove a favourable band as easily as add one.

Hands-on inspections are not yet open.
