What the analysis found
Positive evidence 1
Things this app does right, published at the same strengths as the catch list.
One source only — shown, not confirmed 7
A single kind of evidence. We publish these because withholding them would be the bigger distortion, and we do not treat any of them as a finding we stand behind.
What reviewers said
Verbatim excerpts from public store reviews, shown as corroborating user reports. They are not Appworthy audit evidence, and a quotation is not proof of the finding it sits under.
Trial converts to a charge
The app is pretty cool and is a good deal if you do lots of roadtrips. The BIG dislikes for me is it doesn't connect to the nav screen on my car. I canceled on the last day of my free trial and got charged anyway... super not cool. So if…
I used to love the free version of this app, but now I cannot use it. The app is forcing me to sign up for a "free trial" for a premium account and enter a credit card number. I will be uninstalling this app as soon as I finish this review.
Did Not Honor 7 Day Free Trial — I went into the app on Sept. 20th for a 7 day free trial and they charged me the yearly fee to renew on Sept. 11, 2027. I have’t even had the app for more than 4-5 days. Have to go through the hassle of…
Hard to cancel
I will be cancelling! I can't map out my route without having to pay ridiculous membership fees for this app. I can't even cancel through my settings I actually have to email them and ask permission to cancel because I don't have an…
Bad functionality and billing problems. Can't find an address or phone number to dispute charges. Confusing to cancel subscription. Don't recommend.
I have been unable to cancel. I sold my RV two years ago due to cancer and can't find how to cancel on the app or website. Beware, I'm in, but I can't get out.
Reports that the ads misrepresent the app
I paid for full membership under the impression I can use the ap offline as a GPS... not. If you aren't online you have nothing. misleading advertising. This app can't tell me where to find potable water. The most common sense necessities…
Sucks , bait and switch. Has very limited places
Free trial doesn’t give you all premium perks — Free trial is only if you sign up for the premium annual membership and you still don’t get all the perks associated with that level. Classic bait and switch. Hope the app is better than the…
Paywall blocks the basics
Still haven't found a way to stop their constant Emails. You have to pay for anything useful
so functions behind a paywall
What even is the point of this app. They lock your trips behind a paywall, literally cannot access anything. Subscription slop.
Price keeps rising
Unauthorized charges — Keep increasing subscription from $29 to $59 over last 5 years. Subscription doesn’t show under Apple subscriptions for you to catch it. I was charged for 5 years and didn’t know.
Great app until they locked my routes and raised the membership fee — I traveled across the country 4 times and planned all my routes with this app. The original membership fee was around $30 for the year which was reasonable. I have…
It’s a scam — Changed their service with zero notification handcuffing use of the app and holding data hostage without upgrading to their premium service. This is a scam. Update: Roadtrippers is ok with raising prices for the same…
Upgrade prompts use guilt-trip wording
I really wanted to try this app for a very large across Canada camping trip. I couldn't even use it. I go to start a trip and it keeps asking me to pay for an upgrade. why would I pay for an upgrade when I can't even preview the app?…
Couldn't actually get it to work. Every time I tried to put in a route it asked me to sign up for premium so seems like it only works if you pay
hate what you've done app. everytime I select "plan myself" a pop-up for premium appears and nothing else. planning can't be done without premium in the app.
Reports of unexpected charges
App dosent work with android and the free trial is a out right lie. was charged and refused a refund. My experience was awful and I would not recommend this app to anyone. Zero attempt to make this right after disputing it.
THEY STEAL YOUR MONEY
They force you to do a trial subscription to view site, and never alerted as to when my account would be charged. The charge hit this morning. I'd like to cancel, but they already charged.
What this app sells
How the automated analysis works
This assessment is produced automatically. Three independent signals are read — user reviews, the store listing and the store privacy disclosure — and each candidate finding is filed under the sources that support it.
No charge stands on one kind of evidence — with one published exception. A finding is either a measured fact that anyone can reproduce (an ad SDK is in the package; every subscription bills weekly; the privacy label omits a tracker we can see), or it is an interpretation — and an interpretation needs independent sources to agree before it reaches the catch list. The exception is a harm only users can see: a charge may publish from reviews alone, as “Reported by N users”, once enough reviewers raise it to clear that charge’s own published bar. That agreement rule is what replaced the human reviewer, not a model’s confidence.
There is no overall score, on purpose. A 0–99 number was published here until 2026-09-15. It was withdrawn because it discriminated too weakly to be the instrument — 44.7% of every pair of apps tied — and because a single number is a verdict where a count is an observation. What publishes instead is a row of measurements, each of which says what was counted and, where we could not look, says that instead.
Findings under One source only are real reports we do not stand behind as findings. They are shown because withholding them entirely would hide a genuine complaint, and labelled because publishing them as charges would be an accusation off a single source.
Several measurements above say “Not assessed” because no artefact we hold can answer them. A human review is what resolves those — and it can remove a favourable band as easily as add one.
Hands-on inspections are not yet open.
