The catch list 1

Charges we publish at a strength we stand behind: measured from an artefact, agreed by independent sources, or reported by enough users to clear that charge's own published bar.

Reported by users: Aggressive ad load
Reported by 31 usersReported by users, not measured — nothing we can inspect could show this either wayview evidence
Advertising volume or placement that interrupts normal use: ads between every action, unskippable or forced full-screen ads.
What we saw: Raised by 31 distinct reviewers — 6.2% of the 503 reviews scanned on this store leg (App Store).

One source only — shown, not confirmed 1

A single kind of evidence. We publish these because withholding them would be the bigger distortion, and we do not treat any of them as a finding we stand behind.

Reported by users: Paywall blocks the basics
One source onlyShown, not confirmed — the only source is user reviews.view evidence
The core of the app — not extras — sits behind payment, or previously-free function moved behind a paywall.
What we saw: Paywall blocks the basics: raised by 6 distinct reviewers (1.2% of 503 reviews scanned)

What reviewers said

Verbatim excerpts from public store reviews, shown as corroborating user reports. They are not Appworthy audit evidence, and a quotation is not proof of the finding it sits under.

Aggressive ad load

Js to much — It’s way to many ads for no reason and the app keeps lagging

1★ · App Store · 2026-07-14

Too many ads — Awful, won’t connect to the TV anymore and too many ads compared to how many clicks you get (only 1-2 clicks before you have to watch about 3 ads). This app is terrible, download something else.

1★ · App Store · 2026-04-26

So many ads!! — I can’t click this 3 times without having an ad. I had to close out of it 4 times just to click 3 times to get a show on. It’s 2026. Please let me know what other app won’t have me leaving it that much!

Paywall blocks the basics

Useless behind paywall — This app doesn’t let you do anything useful on the tv, limiting important features behind an unnecessary paywall. Do not waste your time unless you like to spend your money in useless monthly payments.

1★ · App Store · 2024-12-25

Charging $$$ — Not you charging to use the remote feature???? Wow. This was free for the last 2 yrs I was using it and now you guys started charging money to have this feature on our phones? There’s times my remote is misplaced and I…

1★ · App Store · 2024-11-21

Locked behind pay wall — Why would I pay for this app when there’s 100 other apps that do the same thing for free.

How the automated analysis works

Automated, corroborated, and never human-reviewed without a person.

This assessment is produced automatically. Three independent signals are read — user reviews, the store listing and the store privacy disclosure — and each candidate finding is filed under the sources that support it.

No charge stands on one kind of evidence — with one published exception. A finding is either a measured fact that anyone can reproduce (an ad SDK is in the package; every subscription bills weekly; the privacy label omits a tracker we can see), or it is an interpretation — and an interpretation needs independent sources to agree before it reaches the catch list. The exception is a harm only users can see: a charge may publish from reviews alone, as “Reported by N users”, once enough reviewers raise it to clear that charge’s own published bar. That agreement rule is what replaced the human reviewer, not a model’s confidence.

There is no overall score, on purpose. A 0–99 number was published here until 2026-09-15. It was withdrawn because it discriminated too weakly to be the instrument — 44.7% of every pair of apps tied — and because a single number is a verdict where a count is an observation. What publishes instead is a row of measurements, each of which says what was counted and, where we could not look, says that instead.

Findings under One source only are real reports we do not stand behind as findings. They are shown because withholding them entirely would hide a genuine complaint, and labelled because publishing them as charges would be an accusation off a single source.

 Not yet human-reviewed

Several measurements above say “Not assessed” because no artefact we hold can answer them. A human review is what resolves those — and it can remove a favourable band as easily as add one.

Hands-on inspections are not yet open.
