What the analysis found
The catch list 1
Charges we publish at a strength we stand behind: measured from an artefact, agreed by independent sources, or reported by enough users to clear that charge's own published bar.
Positive evidence 1
Things this app does right, published at the same strengths as the catch list.
One source only — shown, not confirmed 4
A single kind of evidence. We publish these because withholding them would be the bigger distortion, and we do not treat any of them as a finding we stand behind.
What reviewers said
Verbatim excerpts from public store reviews, shown as corroborating user reports. They are not Appworthy audit evidence, and a quotation is not proof of the finding it sits under.
Aggressive ad load
The app is now full of adverts, and it's now totally useless. Don't bother wasting your time. Had 2 cameras that worked perfectly for years, now progressively the app has got so bad it's been deleted.
Still a garbage app. Makes you watch unskippable video ads before you can access your own camera feed.
🚨DON'T BUY THEIR CAMERAS🚨 THE MARKETING EPITOME OF SUBSCRIPTION SERVICES TRAP. You get frequently app.updates so you get the best of full screen advertising without the possibility to stop it unless you subscribe. Recently it seems that…
Hard to cancel
They make it nearly impossible to cancel your account, so I learned to pay with PayPal. All you have to do is go into your PayPal account, find Kami Vision (that's the corporate name) and click "cancel subscription". You're welcome.
I got the subscription this year and you cannot cancel without going through customer service. The camera that is attached to the cloud can review footage quickly, the others cannot, even if you have an SD card attached. the AI to record…
This is by far the worst app and the most malicious business practice I have ever encountered. An absolute disgrace of a company that deliberately uses "dark pattern" tactics and intentionally hides the subscription cancellation option…
Reports that the ads misrepresent the app
BEWARE!!! Removed Previously Free Features Those important features are the reason I bought the camera but now they removed those capabilities and make you pay to use them. bait and switch!!!!
YI was a good company when I first started using its wired HD cameras, but the app has become nearly unusable over the past 7 years. Before viewing my live feed, I’m repeatedly forced to watch game ads. Even after pressing the X, I’m…
It used to be good. A few ads is not the problem but bloating the app with so many lengthy ads is just outrageous. Developers, you'll are ruining the experience. And on top of that the subscription rate is unbelievable. Have some shame.
Paywall blocks the basics
YI Cameras bombard you with constant ads that block the feed, and the close button is nearly hidden. The free version has become intentionally unusable compared to how good it once was. I wouldn’t depend on YI for anything important.
will be throwing away cameras and app is useless it says its free but to many ads to even do anything thought you could use with SD Card but even with that in order to see a recorder event you have to watch 2 ads you guys are mischievous…
App used to be free but now you barely can access your cameras
Upgrade prompts use guilt-trip wording
Not recommended. Over time the app is unusable due to add pop ups and only 90 sec live view forcing you to buy cloud storage.
This app is a joke! If you want to check your cameras be prepared to watch 3-4 minutes of commercials before you can even view them, which by the way is now limited to 90 seconds for live viewing. There is also the constant bombardment of…
over time you get overwhelmed with adds hard to connect to camera keeps asking to subscribe to cloud plans $$$, in the long term not happy won't be buying these cameras again 👎👎👎
What this app sells
How the automated analysis works
This assessment is produced automatically. Three independent signals are read — user reviews, the store listing and the store privacy disclosure — and each candidate finding is filed under the sources that support it.
No charge stands on one kind of evidence — with one published exception. A finding is either a measured fact that anyone can reproduce (an ad SDK is in the package; every subscription bills weekly; the privacy label omits a tracker we can see), or it is an interpretation — and an interpretation needs independent sources to agree before it reaches the catch list. The exception is a harm only users can see: a charge may publish from reviews alone, as “Reported by N users”, once enough reviewers raise it to clear that charge’s own published bar. That agreement rule is what replaced the human reviewer, not a model’s confidence.
There is no overall score, on purpose. A 0–99 number was published here until 2026-09-15. It was withdrawn because it discriminated too weakly to be the instrument — 44.7% of every pair of apps tied — and because a single number is a verdict where a count is an observation. What publishes instead is a row of measurements, each of which says what was counted and, where we could not look, says that instead.
Findings under One source only are real reports we do not stand behind as findings. They are shown because withholding them entirely would hide a genuine complaint, and labelled because publishing them as charges would be an accusation off a single source.
Several measurements above say “Not assessed” because no artefact we hold can answer them. A human review is what resolves those — and it can remove a favourable band as easily as add one.
Hands-on inspections are not yet open.
