16 Drones is an ambient drone synthesizer built for evolving textures, harmonic soundscapes, and expressive in-key performance.
Shape layered drones with a custom wavetable engine, per-voice controls, per-voice custom drone envelopes, and an additional subtractive layer. Then perform on top with a dedicated Play voice that stays in the same scale.
Designed to be deep but immediate, 16 Drones gives you rich timbral control, musical scale exploration, expressive performance options, flexible MIDI workflow, and both standalone and AUv3 operation.

Each store’s release notes, as the developer wrote them. They are the developer’s words, not ours.
Create and perform in new ways with 16 Drones 4.0. • Wavetable import: bring your own single-cycle and multi-frame WAV wavetables into the Wave selector. • Latch mode: keep drones playing while you shape their pitch and expression. • AUv3 improvements: dedicated compact and full views adapt to different host window sizes. • Coming later in the 4.x series: a dedicated Mac app for macOS. • Minor improvements and bug fixes.
Appworthy
16-dronesWhat the stores publish. Store ratings are the stores’ numbers, not Appworthy’s, and are never averaged across stores.
From the store listing. Billing terms are read from each purchase’s name — the stores don’t publish them — so treat them as a strong hint, not a disclosure.
These are really on sale; we just can’t tell from the name whether they recur.
Not yet tested. No analysis has been published for this app, so there is no method to describe for it yet. A missing label is not a clean bill of health: it means nothing has been read, not that nothing is wrong.
