About this app

Chromatose is a real-time, audio-reactive visual synth for iPhone and iPad — a modular video synthesizer and visualizer that turns your input and sound into a hypnotic, trippy light show.

Create original, generative visuals by hand. No coding, no AI prompts, no bulky hardware.

Learn it in under an hour. Create fresh ideas for years.

〉Perfect for:

Live performers, VJs, DJs, music producers, installation artists, concert and stage designers, content creators, music video directors, generative artists, and creative explorers. Works for raves, clubs, afterhours, festivals, ambient galleries, meditation spaces, and live loop sessions.

〉What you can make:

Version 1.4.0 · 2026-10-21
The biggest Chromatose release yet. Performance Mode turns the app into a live instrument: eight hot-swappable patches, a master FX chain, and a fully modular transition system. Plus five new effects, custom color palettes, much deeper MIDI, ProRes recording, six new presets, and more. 〉Performance Mode (New) • Performance Mode complements Design Mode: build your visuals from scratch, then play them live, ideally from a hardware MIDI controller. • Group up to eight patches into a Performance Set and hot-swap between them by tap, by MIDI, or with an auto-cycle. Saving Sets is a Pro feature. • Fully modular, customizable transitions, unique to Chromatose: an Attack / Sustain / Release…

Method and limits

What this report can and cannot show

What a missing label means

Not yet tested. No analysis has been published for this app, so there is no method to describe for it yet. A missing label is not a clean bill of health: it means nothing has been read, not that nothing is wrong.

Limits of this report

  • A package scan is static. It identifies code and text in one Android build. It does not measure a live ad session, test a deletion request, or count the steps needed to cancel.
  • Reviews keep their sample. A review-only charge shows distinct reviewers, the share and the sample size, and is published only once it clears that label’s published threshold. Calibration labels are machine-drafted and not yet confirmed by a person.
  • Not assessed is a state. It is never a zero and never a pass.
  • A missing label is not a clean bill of health. It means the evidence did not support one, not that the app is problem-free.
Not yet human-reviewed. A human review gives an app hands-on, recorded measurements. None has been run for this app. Hands-on inspections are not yet open.
