About this app

Kalova is an AI calorie counter: snap, speak or scan your meals.

Snap a photo of any meal, say what you ate, or scan a barcode. AI identifies each food and estimates the portion; when a food matches USDA FoodData Central, calories and macros are calculated from USDA values, and anything without a match is marked as an estimate. You get a per-item breakdown you can edit in a tap.…

App Store

Version 2.5.0 · 2026-10-24
What's new in Kalova: • Premium now costs much less, with a simpler plan screen that shows exactly what you pay. • Your calorie target now adjusts itself each week, based on how your weight is actually moving. • Log a repeat meal in one tap: "same as yesterday", saved meals, and your usual breakfast. • Kalova remembers your corrections. Fix an item once and the next scan gets it right. • Type the exact grams for any item, and add oil, butter or sauce right on the result. • Editing or deleting a meal now updates Apple Health too. • The whole app is now available in 11 languages. • Many fixes for layout, dark mode and stability. No account. No ads. Your food log stays on your iPhone.

Method and limits

What this report can and cannot show

What a missing label means

Not yet tested. No analysis has been published for this app, so there is no method to describe for it yet. A missing label is not a clean bill of health: it means nothing has been read, not that nothing is wrong.

Limits of this report

  • A package scan is static. It identifies code and text in one Android build. It does not measure a live ad session, test a deletion request, or count the steps needed to cancel.
  • Reviews keep their sample. A review-only charge shows distinct reviewers, the share and the sample size, and is published only once it clears that label’s published threshold. Calibration labels are machine-drafted and not yet confirmed by a person.
  • Not assessed is a state. It is never a zero and never a pass.
  • A missing label is not a clean bill of health. It means the evidence did not support one, not that the app is problem-free.
Not yet human-reviewed. A human review gives an app hands-on, recorded measurements. None has been run for this app. Hands-on inspections are not yet open.
