About this app

Manfred does your Mastodon business.

It is a simple yet powerful Mastodon client. It is fast, tidy and respectful of your attention. Unlike other platforms, Mastodon has no algorithmic feed and no engagement tricks: it simply gives you your timelines. Manfred lets you shape them exactly how you like, and helps you put the app down when you are done.

YOUR HOME SCREEN, YOUR RULES

Compose your home screen from timelines, lists, hashtags and notifications. Arrange them as tabs on your phone or side by side on your tablet.

FOCUS MODE

Flip one switch and your timeline becomes finite: Manfred stops right where you last left off, hides engagement counts, and reduces notifications to mentions only. Read what's new, see "you're all caught up", and get on with your day. Turn it off any time and Manfred behaves like a classic client again.…

Version 2.4.5 · 2026-10-21
Thanks for using Manfred! Here is what's new: • Signing in works on servers whose handles use a different domain than the server itself, such as Vivaldi Social. You can also enter the domain from your handle, for example vivaldi.net. • Push notifications no longer stop silently. Manfred renews the subscription by itself when it has become invalid, so you no longer need to switch push off and on again. • Paste a link to a post into the Discover search and the post opens right away, even if it lives on another server. • Link previews show wide images in full instead of cropping them at the sides. • More privacy: Manfred no longer contacts Google when it starts. Firebase is only set up once…

Method and limits

What this report can and cannot show

What a missing label means

Not yet tested. No analysis has been published for this app, so there is no method to describe for it yet. A missing label is not a clean bill of health: it means nothing has been read, not that nothing is wrong.

Limits of this report

  • A package scan is static. It identifies code and text in one Android build. It does not measure a live ad session, test a deletion request, or count the steps needed to cancel.
  • Reviews keep their sample. A review-only charge shows distinct reviewers, the share and the sample size, and is published only once it clears that label’s published threshold. Calibration labels are machine-drafted and not yet confirmed by a person.
  • Not assessed is a state. It is never a zero and never a pass.
  • A missing label is not a clean bill of health. It means the evidence did not support one, not that the app is problem-free.
Not yet human-reviewed. A human review gives an app hands-on, recorded measurements. None has been run for this app. Hands-on inspections are not yet open.
