About this app
Read resistor color bands and SMD resistor markings, and convert between the two.
Color band decoder
- 4-band, 5-band and 6-band resistors
- Tap a band on the resistor drawing to choose its color
- Shows the resistance, the tolerance and, for 6-band resistors, the temperature coefficient
- Shows the matching SMD codes
SMD decoder
- 3-digit codes (e.g. 472 = 4.7 kΩ)
- 4-digit codes (e.g. 1002 = 10 kΩ)
- EIA-96 codes (e.g. 01C = 10 kΩ)
- R notation for low values (e.g. 4R7 = 4.7 Ω)
- Shows the equivalent color bands; change a band to get the new code
Convert and calculate
- Enter a value in Ω, kΩ or MΩ to get its color bands, its 3-digit, 4-digit and EIA-96 codes, and the nearest E24 standard value
- Enter an SMD code to get its value
- Unit conversions and scientific notation
