About this app

How close is the lightning?

StrikeCast: Lightning Tracker puts the answer front and center. See the approximate distance to the nearest detected strike in miles/km, follow activity on a clean live map, and set alerts for the places you care about.

DISTANCE AT A GLANCE

• See the nearest detected strike without searching through the map

• View distance in miles or kilometers

• Check when the latest nearby strike was detected

• Explore latest strikes and lightning hotspots

• Built on NOAA GOES satellite lightning data

ALERTS FOR PLACES THAT MATTER

Save a location and choose an alert radius. StrikeCast can notify you when lightning is detected nearby, even when you are somewhere else. Monitor home, work, school, or any place you want to keep an eye on.

CALM, CLEAR DESIGN

No noisy dashboard and no ad clutter. When the area is quiet, StrikeCast says so.…

Version 1.9.1 · 2026-10-30
• Made for iPhone Duo: StrikeCast fills the whole inner screen. Stand it half-open and the distance and radar stay above the fold. • Bug fixes and refinements.
Version 1.9.0 · 2026-10-17
• New storm card: when lightning comes near your places, a live card follows the storm on your Lock Screen and goes away once it passes. • New widgets: see the distance to the nearest strike right on your Home Screen and Lock Screen. Settings › Add StrikeCast widgets shows how. • StrikeCast now speaks Arabic and Hebrew. • Address search now works in every country, in your app's language. • Bug fixes and refinements. Stay aware, never alarmed.

Method and limits

What this report can and cannot show

What a missing label means

Not yet tested. No analysis has been published for this app, so there is no method to describe for it yet. A missing label is not a clean bill of health: it means nothing has been read, not that nothing is wrong.

Limits of this report

  • A package scan is static. It identifies code and text in one Android build. It does not measure a live ad session, test a deletion request, or count the steps needed to cancel.
  • Reviews keep their sample. A review-only charge shows distinct reviewers, the share and the sample size, and is published only once it clears that label’s published threshold. Calibration labels are machine-drafted and not yet confirmed by a person.
  • Not assessed is a state. It is never a zero and never a pass.
  • A missing label is not a clean bill of health. It means the evidence did not support one, not that the app is problem-free.
Not yet human-reviewed. A human review gives an app hands-on, recorded measurements. None has been run for this app. Hands-on inspections are not yet open.
