About this app

Sort 40 words into 8 groups. Swap tiles until every row of five shares something, and watch each finished row get taped down to the desk.

Word Tack is a word puzzle made of paper: typewritten labels, washi tape and tiles that look cut out by hand. There are no timers and no lives. Try as many moves as you like.

HOW IT PLAYS

• Each board has 40 words in 8 rows, and every group of five words shares something.

• Drag a tile onto another to swap them, or tap one tile and then the other.

• Get all five right and the row is taped down, with its group written above. Solve rows back to back for a streak bonus.

• Solve a board without help for three stars.

140 LEVELS AND A DAILY PUZZLE

• 140 hand-made levels, each marked easy, medium or hard.

• A new daily puzzle every day, with a streak to keep and an emoji grid to share.…

Word Tack is now made for iPhone Duo, and turns to landscape on every iPhone and iPad. And if a level has you stuck, there's now a way past it. iPhone Duo • Play folded on the outer screen, upright or standing on its side. • Open it up for a bigger board, held either way. Landscape everywhere • Turn any iPhone or iPad on its side to play. • On a wide screen, the level details and the Inkling and Clue buttons move to either side of the board, so the rows get the full height. • The home screen, How to Play, Levels and your results are all laid out for landscape. Stuck on a level? • Once your free Inklings are used, or a few minutes pass without solving a row, "Stuck?" appears by the…

Method and limits

What this report can and cannot show

What a missing label means

Not yet tested. No analysis has been published for this app, so there is no method to describe for it yet. A missing label is not a clean bill of health: it means nothing has been read, not that nothing is wrong.

Limits of this report

  • A package scan is static. It identifies code and text in one Android build. It does not measure a live ad session, test a deletion request, or count the steps needed to cancel.
  • Reviews keep their sample. A review-only charge shows distinct reviewers, the share and the sample size, and is published only once it clears that label’s published threshold. Calibration labels are machine-drafted and not yet confirmed by a person.
  • Not assessed is a state. It is never a zero and never a pass.
  • A missing label is not a clean bill of health. It means the evidence did not support one, not that the app is problem-free.
Not yet human-reviewed. A human review gives an app hands-on, recorded measurements. None has been run for this app. Hands-on inspections are not yet open.
